First off, a Merry Christmas eve to everyone (and Happy Hanukkah of course, night #4 and going strong).

There isn’t much to watch today in the world of sports, except an 8 PM EST matchup between the Hawaii Warriors and, as my pal Mario calls them, “Neutured Dame”. Hawaii is nowhere near the level that they were last year with June Jones and Colt Brennan, and Notre Dame…well, you know how that story goes. (If you don’t, check out my top 10 most embarassing football moments of 2008 in sports on bleacherreport.com).

So, my thoughts drift over to my fantasy football team. Full of promise after a great draft, I am now struggling to float above .500 after some heartbreaking losses. I have the second most points in the league, but being in the hardest division has proven too much for the Herberts Hurricane.

Most fantasy enthusiasts struggle after the end of Fantasy Football. Their lives seem empty, and NFL.com’s playoff challenge simply doesn’t cut it. Thus, I have a solution to those diehard fans that refuse to play fantasy NASCAR, and it’s called Fantasy People.

The concept is very easy. Replace NFL players with people you know, and set up a scoring system. This works best in a school or apartment setting. Meet up, draft anywhere from 2-4 people, and then get points from whenever they do something awesome in life (and lose points if they screw up).

I’ve been having some difficulty coming up with a scoring system for my own league, which consists of my college dorm hallmates. I was thinking of just assigning a commish to grant points as he/she wishes, but that’s not concrete enough for me. If any of you have ideas, especially if you decide to set up your own leagues, let me know.

As for my league, once it starts up, there will be a page where you can track the league’s progress. Hopefully I have better judgment of character than I do in NFL talent…

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to USCConquest.com, soon to be the best source for USC Athletics (Southern California, not those Carolina imposters). Discussion is not only acceptable here, but encouraged. If anyone wants to make posts on the blog, you’re more than welcome to. Just email me and I’ll set you up.

I figure I can bore you a little bit about myself now since from here on out I’ll be keeping it strictly to sports. I’m a born and bred New Englander, but a USC Trojan as well. I bleed Cardinal and Gold on Saturdays, Red White and Blue on Sundays. That’s right, I am a fan of possibly the most hated team in their respective sports leagues, and damn proud of it. Once in a while I may sneak in some Patriots commentary. As some of my friends would say, “don’t hate”. I can’t very well comment on football and completely leave out a team that created my love for football.

As far as my upcoming posts go, I’m going to be keeping a running log of my reactions to several of the bowl games, and their impact (if any) on USC Football. Also, look for a preview/recap of the USC-Georgia Tech basketball game. This is their second big regular season matchup of the year, after narrowly losing to Oklahoma. Look to the Trojans to step up on this one.

Until Next Time,
Fight On!
